LIME HEADED DOG ALBUM REVIEW

Picture a magnificent train steaming with optimism, on route to the heart of the sun (but not exactly our sun, with its solar flares and hot plasma - but more a vision of dazzling light and sparkling greatness!). On its journey it encounters an interesting array of terrains and weather conditions, overcoming them all with vim and vigour. A choral piping of oooo’s and aaaaah’s, spluttering colours, piston bursts and blurts of urgent mantras keep this engine pushing forward.

The whole album (DALMATION BITCH) is actually really engaging. It is seamless as though one long piece but cleverly divided into seperate tracks. A few of my favourite bits include the thundering intro of PROOF giving way to soft rays of female vocals and an overwhelming feeling that there is still hope. Track 7 is one simmering hot pot of LORENZO soup, with acappella warmth and juicy slides on a fret board. Chanting monks stepping out of the shadows to the strum of a string. Who can’t relate to wanting a big hug. My all time favourite bit of the album is between 2:45 and 3:05 of SWAN where something happens that I can only describe as a violin doing a nose-dive and barrel-rolling back up again. This sounds really good in headphones.

This album is excellent through and through, full of beautiful sounding instruments, passionate and original composition, and lyrics worth listening to. Also if you buy the album from the bands website you get some remixes thrown in (including ones by Tom Vek and Kevin Emre).
5 stars.
